Sharak equalled l/l6th of old unit ser (kilogram or litre) roughly 60 grams and kaveeli is ant ! Two no-longer used words are adhela (half paisa) coin and qaseera (quarter paisa

You may also be right - but there used to be still another word which I had found out before posing the question - it is Khajji ! Have you heard the song - tumhari bhi jai jai

replaced by ball-point pens - mas was black ink - and maswani was small earthen pot in which students used to carry it !

What is fattui ? It used to be sleeveless cotton waist-coat (filled with cotton) to guard against cold weather ! Rich people used makhmal cloth for it ! And of course,
the word trigutha seems to have been overtaken by samosa !

Salam - Faraz_ameem is always quite busy with multifarious activities (and he is real jack of all trades !) but he spared some of his valuable time from the other more
preferred activities to tell me that raw yellow dates are called gandora, but I am told by those senior to me that gandora is branch of dates tree, and individual piece is
called pind da doka ! What difference will it make what we call it - this raw item is not locally available although dates are aplenty !

faraz_ameem

Salam - there seems some confusion in this matter over some words - pind is khajoor - and pind da doka used to mean - unless the meaning have changed -
the individual piece containing seed - the raw light yellow coloured one used to be called khajji - and the matured dark brown juicy one was called pind - while
dates are available here but the raw variety is not.
